Double F U Crab Truck Man!

This is rather self-explanatory.

Nutter and Spooktacular VCN

Last Thursday? I went to work one of my other jobs in the museum, and boss Nancy said we should go to some reception. Ok maybe there's free food. There were more than 1000 people there, including the Mayor.
He's shorter than I thought he'd be.

Halloween Vegan Chili Night!
This guy...

 ...made chili in a pumpkin. Probably the grandest VCN achievement ever. Gold Star Brooks.

Double Gold Star Brooks for having such a hot wife!

Jess had on like 12in heels. Impressive, especially because she probably biked there. Pete was wearing a suit and he was some specific person- I forget the actual concept other than
Pete in a suit=costume.

Girls!
Rachel=fortune teller
Jess=something fetishy
Me=...intention=pirate..outcome=axl rose
Elvis=hot stuff...see above

Worklife... and Fuck you Crab Truck Man

Work has been, as I'm sure I've mentioned, rather chaotic. The west wing is being renovated as quickly (and seemingly cheaply) as possible. They are having to use giant drills like when those guys make holes in the street in order to make big big holes in some old concrete walls. They are using some gas-powered something that's been causing a build up of carbon monoxide in the sub-basement. Obviously we've had to make other arrangements. I walked downstairs today and saw this:

Note sparks escaping the door in hallway on the way to the computer lab. Couldn't manage to get a good pic but you get the idea.
Sparks. Enclosed space. Hallway. Lyre from Ur and other artifacts 20 meters away. Bad.

Because of all this we had to close down the lab last week.

Waa waa..

So I offered to share the fourth floor office. It's working quite well.
We're like little archiving sardines.

We found this early 90's museum ID yesterday in a hanging folder being cannibalized for the metal rods (to hang sleeves of negatives- screw you lightworks!).
I sooo wanna meet Lara R. Lang- just so I can laugh at her bad glasses in 3-D.

Then I played museum happy hour quizzo with some silly folks. We got second place. Tie-breaker question: How many square miles is the area of Brooklyn. I said 7..no at least 9...and they all listened to me. Major Fail.

I was so pleased with my organizational abilities. Moved the entire Al-Hiba archive from sub-basement of west wing to 4th floor of east wing. Luckily I had much help. Such nice geometrically pleasing results. Felt very accomplished after a long day of work...
Then I got doored on my way home. Fuck you crab truck man.

Louisiana Part 1

This past weekend I visited Ben in Patterson, Louisiana. It was a blast. Louisiana is beautiful and really weird.
His town is cute...and this is their high school mascot- they're the lumberjacks. Not sure how many trees this guy can cut down with that particular axe. Maybe he'll just come slit your throat in the middle of the night.

Ben's Work...it's actually right on the Bayou so probably nicer than it looks from the road.

Ben's House from the backyard...note his enthusiasm.

Why? Because I can.

This kid cooked us breakfast on Saturday morning
.
Joe's Boots. This place was really fun. They have all the ecoutrements you need to be a proper pipefitter, lumberjack, boat man, roofer or just a hard-hat-wearing type of guy. I got a welding hat that covers my ears in case I need to do some welding. This is also where we got the suspenders he is super in love with- understandably- who knew suspenders were so comfy?

He wants these still I'm sure. We did get an equally hilarious pair from the $1 bucket- because you should definitely get your safety glasses from a $1 bucket.

Louisiana Part Deux

On Saturday we went to Lafayette- the big city compared to Patterson (ie they have sushi and taxicabs)- to visit friends from Santa Barbara and be generally sillly..
This is Nat and Abbot- both awesome fun.

This sign is on the way...really?! yes. really.

The only small bathing suit left at the walmart- literally THE only one, was this trampy glitter stripper bikini. Was it itchy? Of course it was itchy -it cost $3. Also please note Ben's leg gesture. Too good.
Alan, I have no words. Thank you for doing this.

My boyfriend is so hot when he dances like a crazy geriatric while dressed like one.

Alan licks it when Ben and I kiss.

Not sure what's going on here but clearly Alan is strong and Abbot is having fun.

Good morning Bundy! So cute. He was sneaking sips of our bloody marys all morning.

Anybody for a Poupart Croissant? Yeah I didn't think so.

Monday afternoon tacos. Yumm.

Ben and I found out where the term sideburns comes from...this guy
The one and only General Ambrose Burnside. Imagine a man who wakes
up in the morning and says "you know what? i'm thinking just the chin
Maurice. The ladies will go hog frickin' wild when they see me at the theatre.
Yeah. Bitchin'. Let's go smoke some Confederate ass before brunch."

Moving, Working, Missing Jay

It's been busy.
I moved to a new apartment last weekend- thanks Elvis and Brooks for rescuing me from the crazy 23 yo boy house! Things are coming together- my mamma came by yesterday to wait for the Comcast man while I was at work so I know have me some internets. I will put pics soon- for now its just some rooms with piles of clothing, 1 chair, 1 table, 1 cup (one guy one...anybody?) and lots of books. Work has been hectic for weeks- besides the tuesday afternoon carbon monoxide poisoning>lab evacuation debacle...Thank you museum for endangering our health and not giving a shit. Tomorrow I am flying to the Bayou to go visit our beloved Ben (diver extraordinaire) Gordon. Can't wait to be there! More work and packing tonight gaah.

On another note.. this past monday was the 1 year anniversary of Jay (Jason) Stefaniuk's death. Everyone that knew him can't help but feel saddened (at the very least) still by his absence. He was more than just a wonderful friend- he was an entire universe of wonderful and I will never forget how much he changed my life and made me want to be a better person.
